EXTENSION

Bioved Research Society is actively engaged in popularising the recent advancements of scientific research amongst the persons tackling primary activities as their principal occupation for their livelihood. Technically it can be said that Bioved Research Society is trying to popularize `Lab to land' and `Land to lab' programme. The society has published several booklet entitled Krishkon Ke Gupt Shatru Samasya Ewam Samadhan, Mashroom Ki Kheti, Genhu, Dhan, Makka, Ganna, Chukandar, Sabji, Dalhan, Tilhan, Phool Ki Adhunik kheti to educate the farmers in very easy language and adaptable manner. Experts from Bioved Research and Communication Centre regularly visit to the Village to educate the farmers about non-traditional methods of crop production.

Similarly experts from the Bioved Research and Communication Centre are trying to awake the people of the rural society engaged in allied activities such as Fisheries, Poultry, Bee keeping and Animal husbandry, Viable methods of plant protection are also being demonstrated amongst the farmers by the experts of BRCC. Science and Agriculture Technology exhibition, Vad-Vivad and Sangosthi are being organised in Ardh Kumbha Mela at Sector 4, Plot No. 15, Gangoli Shiwala Marg since 3 January to 3 Feb. 2007 to demonstrate the recent advanced technologies in different fields of Agriculture i.e. Lac culture, Pearl culture, Seri culture, Api culture, Mashroom cultivation, Jatropha cultivation, Integrated fish-duck-poultry-dairy and nursery farming, Medicinal and Aromatic plants cultivation, Farm mechanisation on the basis of Bullock energy etc. Vad-vivad and sangosthi is being organised per day on different important topics. Control of plant disease is an urgent need of the time as it is creating havoc to the farmers. Accordingly different non-chemical plant protection methods were being demonstrated in the exhibition. There was a demonstration of some magic seeds of different crops such as tomato, brinjal, radish onion etc. An instrument was installed in the exhibition to educate the visitors about the intensity and impact of the water and soil pollution. In all 250 items with pamphlet, instruments, booklets are being shown in the exhibition.

Scientists of the Bioved Research Society have evolved some new supplementary feed, i.e. mustrice and tracvit. It has been observed that feed will be very useful for fish farming. Similarly Bio-pesticides-cum-Biofertilizer and growth and yield regulating agents viz. Bionema and Biodhan (for soil and foliar application) have developed by the team of scientists headed by Dr. B.K. Dwivedi. This product was released by Dr. S.K. Joshi, Director General, CSIR and Secretary, DSIR, Govt. of India, New Delhi on the inaugural function of National Symposium on Eco-toxicological Problems and Their Management. Mass production of Biofertilizer and Biopesticides in Allahabad and to train farmers also for production of biofertilizer .Waste land development through lac host plantation and Jatropha cultivation are being promoted by Bioved in different districts of U.P. Society is intending to collect and preserve native varieties and their wild relatives of different crops in the laboratory. The above proposed works are lacking behind because of financial constraints in the organization. We hope to put them into practice during the coming years.

Bioved Research Society has developed two Demonstration and Training Centres in Allahabad. Our sincere efforts to demonstrate recent advanced technologies available in different disciplines of Agriculture for the benefit of farmers and integrated and inter disciplinary approach has been widely adopted by the farmers for increasing sustainable agricultural production. The practical approach of Learning by Doing for the farmers is the main motto of the organisation. A symposium on `India's Water Budget' Gandhi and Scientific era and other important topics are being organised regularly. BRCC organises soil testing programme regularly in the last week of each month for self employment to graduates, undergraduates and post graduates. Organisation has also established Bioved Soil & Plant Clinic at Block and Tehsil levels in different districts of eastern U.P. National Science Day, Technology Day, Environment Day are being celebrated every year through the organisation of Seminar, Symposium and Workshops. BRIAT has organised an exhibition on Agricultural Technology & Environment Conservation during 4th Feb. 2013 to 25th Feb.2013 at sector 10,old G.T. Road, Maha Kumbh Mela 2013. 20 organisations have demonstrated their technologies and research scientists of Bioved have done a survey among the farming communities residing in Kumbh mela as a Kalpwasi about their existing problems in different fields of Agriculture. Bioved Research Institute of Agriculture and Technology has implemented NABARD, RIF project in block Manda and Meza of Allahabad district during Jan 2012 to Dec. 2012 for scientific method of lac cultivation, lac host plant nursery development and lac value added products preparation technology. Lac Krishak Gosthi has been organized in different villages and identified interested beneficiaries for nursery development, lac cultivation and lac value addition. 688 farmers having 203 rural women have been selected and trained. 361 farmers trained for scientific lac cultivation, 124 for lac host plant nursery development and 203 for lac value added products preparation. BRIAT is purchasing produced lac, nursery plant development and lac value added products after payment from the beneficiary. Trained beneficiaries earned Rs 24,75,218 during this period. In this way, lac culture technology has identified as most needful, eco-friendly and resourceful technology for this rainfed areas linked with natural resource conservation.Bioved Research Institute of Agriculture and Technology has implemented NAIP, lac value added chain in Jharkhand during Jan. 2012 to Dec. 2012 for lac value added preparation technology. Bioved has established its 4 training centre as Bioved lac resource training centre at Khunti, Sodha, Kataribagan and Banaburu. The trained beneficiaries after taking 10 days training from BRIAT started preparing the lac value added products and also trained the other rural women of their villages. Atleast 30 women are working at each centre and earned about Rs 3000-6000 per month. Through preparation of lac value added products these trained beneficiaries have earned Rs 6,51,894 during the period of Jan 2012 to Dec.2012. Jasolampf, Ranchi has also signed a MOU for technical assistance and marketing of lac value added products at Ranchi prepared by these trainees. The trained beneficiaries have also earned Rs 2,15,000 by selling their nursery host plant of Kusum and Flemengia. Thus, lac value added products preparation technology helps in women empowerment of rural areas Jharkhand by providing income and employment generation.

The society has established a Scientific Kits/Toys Bank. The main objective for the establishment of scientific toys bank is for creating scientific temperament among the masses, specially among the rural school going children belonging to the poor section of society.
